Interim Senior Employee Relations Manager
Based in London, hybrid
Length: 3 months initially
Inside IR35
We are working with a London-based Local Authority to recruit an interim Senior Employee Relations Manager to manage and deliver a customer-focused, professional ER service within the People Policy Framework, overseeing all employee relations casework.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Service Accountant include:
- Lead and support the ER team to provide clear, balanced, and policy-aligned advice and guidance to services as needed
- Set standards of service, prioritise work based on risk and available resource, escalate issues as needed, identify barriers and recommend mitigations
- Monitor effectiveness of the employment policies and casework management
- Facilitate informal resolution, where possible and appropriate to do so
- Influence delivery from our shared service operations to and for RBK requirements in a planned way, where possible, including data, resourcing, payroll, systems
- Improve governance and central management of terms and conditions and contracts
- Lead and attend casework hearings on workforce issues, including sickness and mental health
- Improve service efficiency and first-time query resolution
- Help streamline work for data team and LMS training compliance
- Focus on improved engagement via a staff survey and action plan
Experience and knowledge required of the Interim Service Accountant:
- Evidenced by being a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), equivalent qualification and/or evidence of equivalent knowledge and experience
- Significant experience of advising and negotiating with all levels of management, unions and staff on HR and/or OD work
- Evidenced by being a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), equivalent qualification and/or evidence of equivalent knowledge and experience
- Can work within a complex public sector organisation and all levels of employees, including casual workers, agency, sub-contractors and work could include supporting our customers, schools, housing partnership and elected members
