Exeter City Council are seeking an experienced Senior Estates Surveyor to manage a diverse commercial property portfolio and provide expert property advice across the City Council. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team and contribute to the effective management and development of council assets.
Location: Exeter City Council
Set-up: 2-days a week on-site
Rate: £415/day, via umbrella inside IR35
Duration: Initial 3-month sign-off, potential extension
Hours: Full-time position
Responsibilities include:
- Undertake valuations and negotiations for leases, licences, rent reviews, renewals, acquisitions, disposals, and related matters
- Oversee the day-to-day management of properties, including lettings, debt collection, service charges, landlord consents, and tenant relations
- Provide professional property management advice to other Council service units
- Monitor and support Assistant Estates Surveyors, guiding their caseload and professional development
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and maintain accurate asset valuations for capital accounting purposes
Requirements:
- Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
- Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS) with RICS Registered Valuer status
- Significant post-qualification experience in valuation and commercial estate management
- Strong knowledge of property law, valuation principles, and the commercial property market
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering effective solutions
- Proven ability to work on complex projects, lead teams, and engage with diverse stakeholders
