An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the Finance team at a university, supporting strategic development initiatives that underpin the University’s strategy. This role is pivotal in providing expert financial advice, developing sustainable business plans, and driving performance across a diverse portfolio of projects and income-generating activities.

- Location: Brighton – Hybrid 3 days on site

Job responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial support to senior leaders, ensuring delivery of the University’s strategic objectives
- Analyse and evaluate new business opportunities, developing robust financial models and business cases
- Support the development and implementation of financially sustainable plans for new initiatives and projects
- Deliver annual budgets, five-year plans, quarterly forecasts, and monthly performance reporting for strategic initiatives
- Ensure effective financial controls, risk management, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Promote financial literacy and best practice across academic and professional services teams
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for value for money and improved efficiency
- Present complex financial information in a clear, concise manner to non-financial audiences
- Contribute to policy development and provide guidance on financial regulations and procedures
Candidate profile:
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA) or qualified by experience
- Proven experience in finance business partnering within a large, complex organisation
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
- Skilled in developing business cases and supporting senior managers with financial decision-making
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
- Advanced Excel and strong IT skills; experience with financial planning tools desirable
- Experience in Higher Education or similar environment is desirable
