Venn Group is working exclusively with a prestigious University who are recruiting for a Senior Network Engineer who will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance and support of the data and voice network across the university campus.

Salary: £47,000 - £55,000

Location: London

Job responsibilities include:

• Support of network services (data, voice, telephony, and unified communications)
• Ensure that network related incidents are monitored and responded to appropriately whether via the online query system
• Management of network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls)
• Management of network address spaces
• Internet connectivity operations and Support
• Management of firewall systems
• Management of hybrid on-premises/cloud infrastructure
• Responsible for day to day allocation and management of work for network engineering team
• Undertake regular one to one meeting to keep track of performance and projects
• Specialist and lead role for all decision making in respect to network technology

The successful candidate will have:

• Possess deep and substantial knowledge and experience of network technology including data centre switches and routers, distribution & edge switches, voice traffic, firewalls, Internet connectivity, resilience and wifi
• A thorough understanding of issues relating to the management of network systems within a large, diverse and complex organisation
• Experience of managing network and security configurations for public cloudbased systems (e.g. AWS or Azure)
• Strong experience of implementing and managing data networking protocols including TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, DNS, 802.1X etc
• Extensive experience of Network problem resolution and acting in a 3rd line support capacity for a range of Network and Telephony technologies (ideally in a Cisco environment)
• Prior experience of mentoring, motivating and developing staff
