An exciting position has arisen for a Senior Payroll Officer to join a London based College. The post holder will assist in the support the Head of Payroll & Pensions to ensure that the Payroll Team deliver an accurate, timely and efficient payroll service and provide the highest quality internal customer service to employees and clients.
Job responsibilities include:
- Managing the payroll processing output of the Payroll team and feeding back any issues to Head of Payroll and Pensions
- Accurately input data into the Payroll system to ensure that appropriate employee details are correctly set up and calculated in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements
- Accurately calculate Statutory and Occupational Sickness and Parental Pay, process PAYE Deductions and sending payroll information to HM Revenue and Customs
- Complete month end processing, including posting journals into the finance system and balance sheet reconciliations
- Take a proactive approach to ensure the effective management and development of staff within the Payroll team
- Ensure the payroll team run the monthly processes and produce RTI, Year End Returns & produce pay & pension information for the Trust
Successful candidate profile:
- Understanding of payroll legislation and experienced in running payrolls in a complex organisation
- Advanced knowledge of pay and conditions of service for Local Government staff and teachers
- Intermediate or Advance Level in Excel required
