Senior Procurement Officer

We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Senior Procurement Officer with a focus on Adults Commissioning. You will be working as part of the Council’s Strategic Procurement Service where you will manage the delivery of high value and complex tenders, or work with a Business Partner to undertake specific ASC category projects.

Location: Southwest based Authority 

Set-up: Hybrid – ideally 2 days/week onsite

Rate: £400 - £467.59 per day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3-month contract

Hours: Full-time position

The work will include:

• Working as part of the authorities Strategic Procurement Service you will manage the delivery of high value and complex tenders, or work with a Business Partner to undertake specific category projects
• This is one of a number of posts in the Strategic Procurement Service that work flexibly to support the commercial needs of the Council
• Success will depend on developing critical relationships at all levels, particularly with Directors, lead commissioners, outcome managers, senior managers and others who influence commercial outcomes

Qualifications and Education:

• Professional CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualification or equivalent and evidence of experience or necessary skills though training
• Previous Adults commissioning experience is highly desirable
• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of strategic procurement principles
• Experience in developing/reviewing relevant procurement/contract terms
• Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, thereafter at the clients discretion
• Proven track record of providing strategic procurement advice and support to stakeholders at all levels across an organisation
• Demonstrable understanding of the commercial environment including the identification of commercial risk and providing high level commercial advice to stakeholders at all levels
