Interim Strategic Performance Manager
Location: East London, hybrid working
Duration: 6-12 Months (3 days per week)
IR35 Status: Inside

An exciting position has arisen for an interim Strategic Performance Manager role for a London local authority. The role will set the vision and direction for the organisation’s approach to performance management, improvement and data analysis and use it to lead the organisation and partners in making strategic and operational service delivery decisions and setting priorities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Strategic Performance Manager:
- Lead the design and implementation alongside the Head of Data & Insight, of performance management data sets, processes, frameworks and assurance for the Council
- Lead the advice and performance data presentation to CLT and Councillors
- Translate service issues into questions that can be answered using data and collaborate with the data analyst community to produce data products and insights
- Analyse performance data (including benchmarking and forecasting) and customer feedback information and use analysis, together with other sources of evidence to identify trends, achievements, and areas for improvement
- Provide expert guidance and support to service managers in selecting appropriate, outcomes-based performance measures and targets
- Work in parallel with managers and senior leaders across the organisation to design bespoke and innovative solutions to difficult performance issues
- Designing or making recommendations for process changes, service improvement projects or service redesign that have a significant impact on services across the Council and deliver lasting and sustainable improvements
- Leading or participating in a number of multi-disciplinary, cross-Council and cross-agency projects
- Managing the interdependencies and any arising conflicts between a number of different projects or pieces of work
Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Strategic Performance Manager:
- Excellent understanding of a local authority’s vision, objectives, strategies and policies
- Awareness of political and legislative issues with may affect a local authority
- A proven record of working successfully in a similar role in a local authority or complex multi-disciplinary organisation
