Interim Children Service Manager
Venn Group Social Housing Recruitment Team are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Manager to cover a period of extended leavewithin a local authority in Dorset.
Location: Dorset
Contract Type: 4 Months
Hours: 37 per week (Mon-Fri)
Hourly Rate: £23.07 PAYE
Day to Day Duties:
- Managing a service with four teams, three teams working with children and families through assessment, child in need, child protection and care proceedings and 1 Permanence team
- Ensure that services are efficiently and effectively managed and that high standards of professional practice and delivery are promoted, understood, applied and maintained within the designated service/function
- Ensure full records of the service are maintained and report performance by staff and the service/function and ensure that performance targets specific to the service area are understood and met
- Provide leadership, direction and management to service specific groups, teams and individual staff; including leading project groups covering the full range of people management activities
- Contribute to the preparation and implementation of service plans and assist, advise and support in the review and commissioning of services locally
- Prepare reports for committees, sub-committees and other internal/external groups and attend meetings as required as a representative of the service
- Manage delegated budgets, which may include external grants and funding streams, in accordance with the Council’s policies
- Deputise for and represent the Head of Service as required
- Promote and secure beneficial close working relationships at an appropriate level with agencies and partners
- Promote and exploit opportunities for multi-agency integrated working across field work settings
- Where the post is based within either the People - Adults Directorate or People - Children’s Directorate, responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and/or vulnerable adults
- Responsible for ensuring data is uploaded and the safekeeping of data and record systems both manual and computerised
Essentials:
- Care or service planning (including complex cases) and professional supervision
- Writing management reports on complex matters
- Experience in multi-agency working
- Proven experience of staff management and performance management
- Significant experience of implementing policies and strategies in a similar or related setting
- A current Enhanced DBS
- Driver with own car
