Service Manager - Family Safeguarding Team
Start: October 2023
Location: Wiltshire
Rate: £500 p/d Inside IR35 via an Umbrella Company
Duration: 3 months initially (likely to extend further)
Working pattern: Hybrid
Our client, a Local Authority in Wiltshire is looking for a new Service Manager for their Family Safeguarding Team. You will work effectively with colleagues within the council and partner agencies to deliver an integrated, strengths-based, and outcome focussed service in accordance with statutory responsibilities and regulations.
If you are a dynamic individual with leadership qualities who shares this vision we want to hear from you. You may already have experience as a Service Manager or you may be stepping into this new level and want to use your experience to develop this service.
Our client is one of just a few local authorities in the country using the Family Safeguarding Model, bringing together one team of workers with a range of skills and knowledge to offer help and support to families around a wide range of problems.
Key Accountabilities:
- Shape and drive the design and implementation of a new operating model under the direction of the Service Director – Children & Families
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the service area and wider children services agenda
- Act as Workforce Development Lead for the service area
- Manage up to 5 Team Managers
- Ensure that the voice of the child is at the heart of practice
- Act as Practice Leaders, championing children, driving and leading practice
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of the Practice and Procedural Framework
- Ensure that through quality assurance, performance management we are able to deliver a quality service that has delivers measurable outcomes for children
- Create the cultural conditions for this approach to be embedded
- Lead the teams to achieve, to learn and be solution focused
- Understand, use and promote the use of data and quality to understand and ensure service effectiveness
Knowledge & Experience:
- Demonstrable evidence of management development expertise
- Demonstrable evidence of managing child protection and other social work services to safeguard children, including direct responsibility for operational staff
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and policy context relating to the work of children’s services and social work
- Ability to lead and implement change
- Excellent management and leadership skills
- Project management experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to a range of audiences and across organisational boundaries
- Ability to monitor and manage budgets and contribute to the budget setting process
Qualifications:
- Social Work qualification and appropriate registration
