Support Worker

A support provider in North Somerset is seeking an experienced and highly motivated support candidate to work with Young People under the care of the Local Authority (LAC) in a supported living environment
Location: North Somerset
Contract duration: 3 months +
Hours: 37.5 shift working (8pm-10pm, 10am-6pm, 11am-7pm and some waking night cover)
Hourly rate: £11 PAYE Inclusive of holiday pay

Day to day responsibilities include:
- Support families, children and young people to actively plan their own menus and provide specialist support on healthy eating to enable them to make their own choices
- Provide advice and guidance to clients on budgeting and signpost them to other relevant agencies if necessary
- Support clients with other life skills such as welfare benefits, employment, education, training, volunteering and/or apprenticeships where appropriate
- Enable clients to make their own appointments with other professionals and enable them to make their own choices about the support they require
- Actively work with clients to develop links in the community as agreed in their support and safety plan
- Actively support clients in a person centred way to achieve their goals as identified in their support and safety plan; review these goals frequently with the clients and document the clients’ journey
- Plan activities to be conducted with other colleagues
- Handle and administer medication in line with policies and procedures
- Undertake tenancy/licence sign ups and inductions and establish regular payments of rent and service charge
- Support clients to make housing benefit and other welfare benefit claims
- Flag any tenancy/licence breaches to the appropriate Support Co-ordinator
Essential criteria include:
- Current enhanced DBS (within the past 12 months)
- Experience of working within supported or social housing, property management or care/criminal justice setting
