Supported Housing Officer
An opportunity has arisen for Two Supported Housing Officers, working for a well-established Supported Housing charity in North London. These are essential roles, providing tailored support to adults with medium needs within a supported housing environment.
Hours: 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 12pm-8pm on a 7-day rota system (1 in 6 weekends)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
PAYE Rate: £16ph inc. Holiday
Umbrella Rate: £18.21ph inc. Holiday
Location: Kilburn or Camden
Your duties will include:
- The Housing facility in Kilburn is working within a 60 bed hostel, providing accommodation for Men
- The housing facility in Camden is working with Women offering 60 supported bed spaces and 33 short-term accommodation bed spaces
- Both housing units require working with people with a variety of support needs
- To interview clients referred to the service and make an assessment on their suitability for acceptance to the hostel and induct them in line with scheme policy
- Provide advice to clients on welfare benefits, housing, training and employment opportunities and other issues as required
- Work with clients to produce outcome focused support plans liaising with external agencies as appropriate to ensure ongoing support needs of clients
- Utilise knowledge skills and experience to recognise difficult or challenging client situations and use appropriate communication skills to influence the client’s behaviour
- Assist clients in making claims for welfare benefits, to be responsible for the collection of Housing Benefit and weekly service charges and to deal promptly with rent arrears and any other breaches of the licence agreement in accordance with agreed policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate records including client files and data on admissions and departures from the service
- Undertake housing management tasks including reception duties, taking rent and ensuring a clean and safe physical environment
The successful candidate should have:
- Enhanced DBS: Adult
- Experience working in supported housing
- Experience of assisting vulnerable people to identify personal goals through proactive and outcome focused support planning Strong admin skills and process driven
- Experience of developing and nurturing effective working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies
- Experience in identification and assessment of risk
