Working within a team that provide a centralised IT project management service, covering IT projects and support to the organistion.
Within the team’s portfolio, they manage approximately 280+ desktops, 120 mobile phones and over 400 radios. In addition to this they monitor and provide support to 36 servers and 73+ applications. They also work on projects to upgrade existing applications, implement new systems, carry out training, provide guidance/support on applications and liaise with Information Governance to ensure Trust IG standards are met.
We are looking for someone to take on a predominately project management role. They have perhaps come from a tech support background so they understand the whole lifecycle, the value of good customer service and the potential to jump in and help with some 3rd line support on rare occasions but project management experience will be valued above this. The person would perhaps be someone who likes to get involved in the work as well as be a project manager, some development opportunities will allow them the freedom to manage the project and develop the product if they wish but the delivery of the project and documentation should be the focus.
Technical Project Management:
• Day to day management of a range of projects mostly focused on IT systems and applications but not limited to
• Identifying business needs, improving efficiency, and solving existing users’ problems
• Produce quality documentation to defined standards (Prince2 based with some tailoring)
• Plan workloads and work flexibly to deadlines
• Liaise with a range of stakeholders from senior management to end users
• Research business system capabilities and provide well thought out proposals and reasoning
• Comply with Trust information governance standards
• Ability to explain complex systems and problems in simple terms to an audience with varying levels of technical knowledge
• Understand the difference between on premise and cloud solutions. Most importantly when to utilise either or both for effective system design
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
• Quality customer advice and support
• Implement system usage and data quality monitoring mechanisms
• Configuration of operationally critical systems and applications
• Windows server administration and configuration including IIS
• Microsoft SQL experience including tools like SSIS, SSRS and Power BI
• A solid understanding of the importance of information security and how to uphold standards around this
• An understanding of how all components of a complex IT system interact together from the networking all the way through to the client application.
