We are currently partnering with a London-based Local Authority to recruit experienced Temporary Accommodation Housing Officers for a high-impact, multi-faceted project. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong TA experience to contribute to meaningful cost-reduction and resettlement outcomes within a pressured housing environment.
The role will focus on step-down activity, allocations, and resettlement, including occupancy checks and detailed case reviews, with a particular emphasis on managing and reducing high-cost temporary accommodation placements.
Contract Details
- Duration: 3–6 months (temporary)
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Working Pattern: 2–3 days per week on site
- Rate: £300 per day (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
- Demonstrable negotiation skills, including securing improved TA rates with housing providers and leading effective step-down discussions with households
- Experience working within local government housing, homelessness, or TA services, with a strong understanding of the operational and financial pressures faced by Local Authorities
- Proven ability to carry out in-depth case reviews, identify cost-saving opportunities, and progress sustainable step-down pathways
- Comfortable working to weekly performance targets, with a focus on the top 100 highest-cost cases and subsequent cohorts
- A proactive self-starter able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain momentum with minimal supervision
- Agile and adaptable, able to switch between negotiation, casework, supplier engagement, and resident-facing activity as required
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and work collaboratively with internal teams and external providers
- An analytical mindset, capable of tracking progress, identifying trends, and contributing to wider TA cost-reduction strategies
- Confident handling sensitive and complex conversations with professionalism, empathy, and authority
- Outcome-focused, resilient, and pragmatic, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
