Treasury Accountant
Based in East London, hybrid

Salary: £55,000-£65,000 per annum
We are seeking a highly capable Treasury Accountant to provide accurate, timely, and compliant Treasury accounting services for a leading housing association. The Treasury Accountant will play a crucial role in statutory reporting, Treasury audits, and ensuring all Treasury transactions are recorded and reported to the highest standard. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and Treasury, the Treasury Accountant will support robust financial controls, risk management, and smooth delivery of key accounting processes. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the accurate accounting and timely reporting of all Treasury transactions, including preparing statutory notes and supporting schedules
- Project manage Treasury audits, overseeing the collation of documentation for individual debt instruments and funding programmes
- Provide technical accounting advice on new Treasury products and transactions, drafting accounting treatment papers for internal committees and external auditors
- Support the Treasury Manager (Operations) in ensuring Treasury activities are resourced effectively, including helping train and coach colleagues
- Respond to internal Finance requests and ensure Treasury related information is communicated accurately and efficiently across the organisation
- Liaise with external auditors, advisors, and consultants, contributing to audit processes and group Treasury projects
- Prepare and post Treasury journals for budgeting and forecasting and support the production of variance analysis for management reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance, including accurate input into regulatory returns
- Maintain audit ready records and ensure all Treasury transactions are accurately reflected within Finance and Treasury systems
- Contribute to Treasury risk management, controls, and procedure updates to support a strong and compliant financial framework
Skills and Abilities:
Essential:
- ACCA Qualified Accountant or ACCA Finalist (actively completing final exams)
- Experience working within a busy Treasury team, with strong knowledge of Treasury accounting and reporting
- Experience supporting financial audits, yearend processes, or debt instrument reporting
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with recognised Treasury/Finance systems
Desirable:
- Experience in a housing association or property sector environment
- Experience using Unit4 or Salmon systems
