Recruiter smiles at the camera talking about volunteering opportunities

I joined Venn Group back in 2018 as a complete blank canvas who had never even heard of recruitment. I chose Venn Group because despite this, they still saw the potential in me and gave me a chance. With the extensive training program and excellent support from my peers and managers I am now a completely different person! Even four years on I’m still offered training; I love developing and learning new things, and it’s also important to hear different perspectives from what you’re used to.

I am now a Senior Executive Consultant within the Milton Keynes Housing team and love my job. It’s very rewarding placing great candidates that are going to be supporting homeless people and people with mental health issues. Each day is different and the office environment is always inspiring and fun with new ideas and thoughts floating around. Having team commission and working collaboratively allows us to build supportive relationships; if I ever need help, there will be people that want to help me.

I’ve especially benefitted from the volunteering days each year. Essentially getting paid to do a skydive for Shelter was amazing, and I’ve also had the opportunity to volunteer at the food bank and organise a volunteering day at the Curly Tails pig sanctuary. Being part of the charity committee has meant I’ve been able to have an influence on the support we provide, and I’ve felt encouraged throughout; each charity meeting is very inspirational as everyone puts their ideas together as to how we can make a difference.

We also support a local charity as an office and do various fundraising events throughout the year. In the past we’ve done bake sales, Wimbledon days, a reverse advent calendar, dressing up as royals for the Jubilee, among others. Any kind of charity event is welcomed, as I think it’s important to make sure that any causes that are close to people are recognised and we’ll all get together to help.
