Today James Whitehouse hosted a workshop for Birmingham City University’s TeachFirst students. Drawing upon his expertise as a Recruitment Consultant and his prior experience as a Teacher he was able to deliver an accessible toolkit for “The Recruitment Process” module of GCSE Business Studies.

James changed careers four years ago and benefited from the transferable nature of the skills between both professions. His ability to understand, listen and build trust with his students was easily applied to his clients and candidates, and the structure needed to plan lessons meant he methodically designed his successful business development strategy.

In delivering this course James found a perfect fit for his knowledge and insight and was excited to be able to share what he has learnt at Venn Group to future teachers, knowing from his experience that evidenced and real-life examples is where you find the best student engagement.

After the workshop James said, “It was great to share my professional experience with the trainee’s and my years of teaching practice, in particular, the recruitment modules. What really stood out was the impact rapid advancements in technology have played in recruitment and how this will affect how it is delivered at GCSE and A-Level. We scheduled a follow up, where we I can hopefully, join them in their respective schools and talk with the students about their futures and how recruitment will play a huge role.“
