What is this promotion testament to?
Working as part of an excellent team who from day one who have supported me in all that I do; without the trust and confidence of those around me there is no doubt that I wouldn’t have reached this point. We’re also lucky to have a top class administration and back office function here at Venn Group which allows us as consultants to focus on delivering a great service whilst being confident that everything behind the scenes will be taken care of.
Do you have a principle you live by?
Always look at the bigger picture.
Why do you work at Venn Group?
Venn Group have always been a supportive organisation at every level, with a real focus on the nurturing and development of their staff. I’m really grateful for the support I have received up to this point and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.
What’s the difference between a good consultant and a great consultant?
A good consultant is someone who knows what their candidates and clients want, a great consultant is someone who understands why.
You specialise in Legal, what do you enjoy about this market?
Playing a small part in making bigger things happen. I think the law can often be viewed as something that prevents things from taking place, when it actually enables big projects and events to go ahead. Since being on the team we’ve recruited Lawyers to assist with things such as the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and hopefully next year we can experience the event as it comes to life whilst knowing about the small part our help might have played.
Best bit of advice in life or work?
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
What drives you?
At the moment a 12 year old Kia Picanto but I’m well overdue an upgrade.

Tom has been with the team for coming up to 4 years and in this time he has been a real solid team member. He has helped develop his team mates in their own careers as well as striving forwards in his own and always has a smile on his face. He works hard and both candidates and clients value the relationships they have built with him over the years which mean they keep coming back for more!
This is the first time a consultant has hit the milestone of Principal Consultant on my team and I am very proud of what Tom has achieved.
