Myles Argent Promotion

male recruiter promoted to principal recruitment consultant
Congratulations to Myles Argent on his very well-deserved promotion to Principal Consultant. We heard from Myles about his successful career with us.

What first drew you to recruitment at Venn Group?

I first had an interest in recruitment and Venn Group due to how quickly you could develop your career and work through promotions. The fact that the work you put in directly impacts what you get out of it was a very big factor for me; the Pathways & Milestones made a clear and easy development path for me to follow. I also value being able to work on a team basis here.

What do you enjoy the most about recruiting for the charity sector?

The people who you come across in the sector are definitely a highlight for me. I have worked with some really interesting clients and candidates over the last few years who are doing some excellent work within these sectors, and have been a pleasure to deal with.

What key lessons have you learned from your management team?

The most important lesson I have learned is that you have to be super organised with your work; you need to create clear daily and weekly plans to prioritise your most important objectives, which will enable you to be as productive as possible.

What has been the biggest change in your approach since you began recruitment?

I have learned to never take things personally and always give people a chance and the time of day, as you never know when you will cross paths with them in the future

What characteristics make a great recruiter?

Determination is really key. It is very easy to get disheartened if something does not go your way, but it is really important to stay determined on your objective to gain the best possible outcome. Commerciality is also important; it can be difficult to prioritise when things are extremely busy, but it helps to focus on what decisions make the most long-term commercial sense.

What would be your ideal Saturday?

Going down to the London Stadium to watch West Ham win 3-0!

How do you make sure you continue to learn?

Always keep taking advice from my peers and being open to different and new approaches to recruitment that I may not have considered before.

We also heard from Myles’ management team who have supported him throughout his career:

“I am absolutely delighted to see Myles promoted to Principal Consultant. As with everything he commits to achieving, he has done it in some style and is now driving forwards to the next milestone. Having worked closely with Myles since day one, it has been a genuine pleasure to recognise his potential, see him develop over the years and mature into an inspirational leader to those around him. He has been instrumental to the ongoing success of the team and is a well-respected and hugely valued member of the wider business unit. With his talent, work ethic and enthusiasm I have no doubt he will have many more promotions to celebrate. Personally, I look forward to working with you over the years to come, well done Myles!”
