Application Architect – Financial Services
London – Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to join a leading organisation within the financial services sector. This is a senior role requiring strong technical leadership, architectural governance expertise, and the ability to align technology solutions with business and regulatory requirements.
The Role
As an Application Architect, you will play a key role in defining and governing application architecture across the enterprise. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, platform architects, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant with internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, maintain, and enforce application architecture standards and patterns across enterprise systems
- Manage and contribute to an internal Architecture Governance Board
- Ensure solutions comply with internal governance frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Lead design reviews for critical applications, ensuring best practices in scalability, security, and resilience
- Collaborate with platform architects and service owners to integrate applications with enterprise platforms
- Oversee application security risk assessments
- Implement controls for data protection, encryption, and access management
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, influencing technology decisions
- Partner with IT, Security, Risk, and Finance teams to align architecture with strategic objectives
Required Experience
- Proven background in Application Architecture within regulated environments
- Hands-on experience with Architecture Review Boards and application governance
- Strong experience influencing stakeholders and aligning technology initiatives to business strategy
- Deep understanding of application architecture patterns across on-premises and SaaS environments
- Strong knowledge of application security standards and best practices
- Experience with integration technologies, including middleware and APIs
- Familiarity with banking or financial services processes and regulatory frameworks
