We are currently working with an East Midlands Local Authority, who are seeking an experienced Asset Valuation Surveyor to support their Corporate Landlord and Finance Teams in delivering the Council’s asset valuation programme for 2025/2026 and beyond.
Asset Valuation Surveyor
Start: ASAP
Rate: £500 p/d inside IR35 (Umbrella)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Duration: 12 Months Initially
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the outsourcing of asset valuations, including preparation and issuing of Invitation to Tender (ITT), scoring, and onboarding of external valuers.
- Obtain internal approvals and manage documentation and payments.
- Act as primary contract manager for the appointed valuation provider and main contact for external audit queries.
- Source and apply appropriate indices to meet CIPFA code requirements for annual asset valuation.
- Oversee contract delivery, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Manage fee payments and ensure compliance with Council financial procedures.
- Liaise between external valuation company and Capital Accounting Team.
- Ensure timely exchange of property documentation including plans, leases, and asset records.
- Undertake a small number of valuations directly throughout the year.
- Conduct internal quality reviews of external valuation work.
- Update property/asset management systems with annual valuation data.
- Provide professional advice and technical support to internal teams on valuation matters.
Requirements:
- Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer status.
- Strong background in local authority asset valuation.
- Experience managing outsourced valuation programmes and external contracts.
- Familiarity with CIPFA code and public sector financial procedures.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
