Interim Opportunity: Assistant Director – Adult Social Care Services
Duration: 3 months initially
Rate: Negotiable (Inside IR35) – open to discussing expectations
Hybrid: 2–3 days per week on-site
A forward-thinking local authority is seeking an experienced and visionary Assistant Director for Adult Services to join its Strategic Leadership Team. This pivotal role reports directly to the Corporate Director Adults (DASS) and will lead the strategic planning, operational delivery and financial stewardship of Adult Social Care across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership for Adult Services, ensuring all statutory and safeguarding responsibilities are met.
• Drive transformation and modernisation, embedding integrated and neighbourhood-based approaches to health and care.
• Lead major strategic programmes in partnership with health, social care and community stakeholders.
• Manage a £100m+ budget, ensuring robust financial control, value for money and high-quality service delivery.
• Build strong partnerships at local, regional and national level.
• Inspire, develop and lead a talented workforce to deliver the best outcomes for residents.
About You:
• Proven operational leadership experience within Adult Social Care.
• Strong background in neighbourhood health models and integrated service delivery.
• Strategic management experience within a complex, political environment.
• Skilled in budget management and financial accountability.
• Excellent communicator with strong partnership-building capability.
• Committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
