Deputy Payroll & Pensions Manager
An exciting position has arisen for a Deputy Payroll & Pensions Manager to work for a London based University. Reporting to the Payroll, Pensions & Financial Transactions Manager, the post holder will assist in ensuring the effective, efficient and timely payment of salary payments.
Job responsibilities include:
- Processing monthly payroll for c.2500 employees to include starter, leaver, amendments, absence, overtime, statutory payments and pensions and tax year end processes
- Effective management of one team member involved in the processing of payroll
- Dealing with discrepancies and queries relating to payroll/ resolve or escalate as appropriate
- Management of monthly and ad hoc payroll related payments including manual calculations
- Supporting of the monthly financial accounting requirements of the business, including report generation, producing monthly payroll journals, reconciliations, etc
- Preparation of reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages
- Responsibility for the running of the different SGUL pension schemes
- Liaise with external agencies such as pension schemes, HMRC and NHS Trusts
- Managing the shared payroll inbox
Person Specification:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a Payroll Department
- Experience using iTrent and ResourceLink
- Experience of working within Education, Local Government or NHS environment
- Experience of Defined Benefit pension schemes
- Excellent communication and organisational skills

Permanent Salary: £32,220 – £38,599 (Rising to £33,061 - £39,480 on 1st August 2023)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working pattern: 3 days working in the Office/ 2 days working from home
