Development Officer
Based in Essex, hybrid
3 month contract
£23 - £25 per hour
We are seeking a highly capable Development Officer to effectively deliver and project‑manage new construction schemes. Working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, the Development Officer will play a key role in ensuring smooth and timely property handovers. The role is also responsible for ensuring that all new scheme information is communicated accurately and efficiently across the organisation.
Development Officer - Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage project and contract processes for new affordable housing schemes, ensuring compliance with policies, statutory requirements, and Homes England guidance.
- Oversee handover of affordable and private homes, ensuring all standards and certifications are in place before letting or sale.
- Control project costs and quality by monitoring budgets, progressing payments and purchase orders, and procuring goods and services.
- Lead defects management throughout the defects period, attending site meetings and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders.
- Support site appraisals, maintain accurate performance records, and contribute to development initiatives that maximise value for money.
- Engage with residents and stakeholders, ensure clear communication across teams, and undertake additional tasks to support corporate growth objectives.
Skills and abilities:
- Minimum one year of office work experience
- Minimum one year of experience with residential property handovers
- Experience in project, contract, and budget management
- Full UK driver’s license and access to a vehicle
