A reputable University based in the South East of England is recruiting an interim Director of Governance and Assurance. As part of the University’s Senior Management team the post holder will have oversight of the governance structure of the university, ensuring that processes act within the law, sector guidance and good practice, in an ethical manner.
Job responsibilities:
- Accountable for the successful delivery, oversight and ongoing review of the University’s governance structures, policies, procedures and processes
- Act as Secretary to Council and attend the Executive Group meetings to ensure good strategic knowledge
- Maintain up to date awareness of changes to the policy framework surrounding corporate governance
- Develop and manage the university’s risk management framework
- Direct and oversee formal processes and governance committees
- Provide policies and procedures and reporting frameworks
- Line manage six direct reports, providing leadership and development
Candidate profile:
- Significant demonstrable experience working in a governance/ company secretary function at board level
- Proven management experience in a large complex organisation
- Experience of working in the Higher Education sector and up to date knowledge of University governance
- Sound knowledge of risk management approaches
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to deal confidently with a range of individuals at all levels
Salary: £80,000 - £125,000 (day rates may also be considered)
Contract type: 6 months, fixed term contract
Working hours: Full-time
Location: Kent (flexible hybrid working – accommodation can be provided by the organisation)
