A distinguished charity is actively recruiting for a Drug and Alcohol Family Safeguarding Worker to join their organisation and the Family Safeguarding Service. The main focus of the role is to improve the quality of work undertaken with families, and thereby outcomes for children and parents.
Location: Surrey
Duration: 6-12 months minimum
Key responsibilities:
• Deliver 1-to-1 and group support to help parents engage with treatment and recovery services
• Provide person-centred care using proven psychosocial interventions, including Motivational Interviewing, Brief Interventions, and Harm Reduction strategies
• Conduct triage and comprehensive substance misuse assessments, including risk evaluations and tailored care plans
• Promote and deliver harm reduction initiatives such as alcohol screening, BBV awareness, and Dry Blood Spot Testing
• Develop collaborative recovery plans with service users, drawing on the full range of support available across the Family Safeguarding Service and i-access
• Empower and support volunteers, peer mentors, and service user representatives to be actively involved
• Identify safeguarding concerns and take prompt action in line with local safeguarding procedures
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children and families impacted by substance misuse
• A strong understanding of substance misuse services and a genuine desire to make a difference
• A full UK driving licence
• An Enhanced DBS for working with both Adults and Children
