Health and Safety Manager – Local Authority (Midlands)
Rate: Competitive hourly rate (Inside IR35)
Duration: Initial 3–6 months Initially
Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead the development and delivery of a robust health and safety management system for a Local Authority in the Midlands. This role is dedicated to overseeing health and safety across the Council’s Corporate Property Portfolio, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical responsibilities towards employees, contractors, and the public.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the Health and Safety Support team
• Provide expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and welfare to directorate managers
• Ensure the delivery of an effective health and safety service across the Directorate
• Coach managers and team members to address and resolve health and safety issues
• Champion a positive safety culture, linking values and leadership behaviours
• Promote awareness and understanding of health and safety benefits
• Drive the implementation of new health and safety policies and procedures
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Proven experience managing health and safety teams
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification)
• Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH)
• Strong knowledge of current and emerging health and safety legislation
