Financial Accounting Manager
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to lead on statutory financial reporting and tax compliance for a well established housing association.
This role plays a key part in ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and the delivery of continuous process improvements across the organisation.
The position is based out of Kent based offices, with presence required on site twice per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads statutory and regulatory reporting, including year-end audit processes and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manages the preparation and submission of tax filings such as VAT, corporation tax, PSA, and P11D returns.
- Acts as the internal tax expert and key point of contact for external advisers.
- Oversees payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
- Strengthens internal financial controls, particularly in relation to capital expenditure and tax management.
- Supports the Capital Accountant with the fixed asset register and ledger accuracy.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and development to finance team members.
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with proven experience of leading a finance team and preparing statutory accounts. Strong knowledge of FRS102 and SORP, alongside excellent tax compliance expertise, is essential. Experience in managing audit relationships and delivering robust financial processes is also required.
The ideal individual will be analytical, detail-focused, and able to explain complex financial matters clearly to non-financial colleagues. Advanced Excel skills are essential, while experience in housing, charity, or public sector finance would be an advantage.
