Head of Financial Accounts
A South East university is seeking a Head of Financial Accounts on a full-time permanent contract. The post holder will lead three teams, driving accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and successful year-end audits. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the University’s Financial Accounting function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting
- Oversee annual accounts, monthly reporting, treasury management, and tax compliance
- Safeguard research funding and support financial forecasting across academic divisions
- Manage and enhance financial systems and income collection portals
- Build strong relationships across the University to ensure smooth financial operations
- Ensure robust controls to protect assets and meet regulatory and funding requirements
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing finance team
Essential criteria:
- CCAB Qualified Accountant
- Extensive senior financial management experience in complex organisations
- Strong knowledge of HE/FE SORP, VAT, and current accounting standards
- Expertise in financial strategy, reporting, and systems development
- Proven leader of high-performing finance teams
Annual Salary: £57,000 - £64,000
Location: Kent
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
