We are currently working with Bristol City Council who are looking to recruit a Head of Landlord Compliance and Building Safety to be responsible for Landlord Compliance Commissioning Teams
Job: Head of Landlord Compliance and Building Safety
Duration: 6-months
Rate: £700/day via Umbrella Company, Inside IR35
Site presence: Hybrid – 3 days onsite
Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation’s approach to landlord compliance, building safety and health & safety, ensuring statutory duties are met and acting as the Responsible Person/Duty Holder under relevant legislation.
- Oversee the development and implementation of safety assurance frameworks, including Building Safety Certification, the “Golden Thread” of safety assurance, and full regulatory compliance.
- Provide strategic leadership for compliance and building safety teams, embedding a data-led, customer-focused approach that delivers efficiency, value for money, and service improvements.
- Manage and monitor compliance programmes, budgets, and service plans, ensuring delivery to agreed quality standards, timescales, and regulatory requirements.
- Build effective partnerships with regulators, residents, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, enhance resident engagement, and strengthen organisational reputation.
Requirement
- Relevant professional qualification in property, health & safety (e.g., NEBOSH), or equivalent experience in compliance and building safety
- Strong knowledge of landlord compliance, Building Safety Act, CDM regulations, and statutory standards relating to fire safety, asbestos, water safety, gas, electrical, and lift safety
- Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience of inspiring, coaching, and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to interpret complex compliance data and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience in managing compliance programmes, large budgets, and change initiatives within a regulated environment
