Interim Democratic Services Officer– 3-6 Months – Mostly Remote Working – Home Counties – £25-30 per hour
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with an established organisation within Local Government in the Home Counties who are recruiting for a politically aware Interim Democratic Services Officer with an ability to advocate and negotiate to join their department.
The organisation are ideally seeking someone to take on the position on a full-time basis but candidates possessing the relevant experience who can only offer part-time hours may also be considered.
This assignment is offered for an initial period of 3-6 Months and will be worked on a fully remote basis initially then developing into committee presence twice a month.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Interim Democratic Services Officer to join a reputable Public Sector Organisation. The Client is seeking a candidate with substantial committee administration experience with a broad knowledge of issues affecting Local Authorities.
Duties may include:

Initiating and managing other specific projects and/or areas of work as identified

Assisting Councillors, Chief Executives, Committees and Borough Solicitors throughout their complex portfolios of responsibility for the efficient management of committee meetings including agenda production, attending meetings, minute taking, and action follow up

Providing administrative support for meetings including Cabinet, Full Council, Planning and Licensing

Working with the Senior Leadership Support Team to ensure processes were adhered to in accordance with statutory requirements

Managing the ODN/ MDN register and process

Handling the diary management of committee meetings for Councillors and Management board including risk management and organising streaming services

Being knowledgeable in Local Government practices and providing effective and experienced Legal Advice
An hourly rate of up to £30 per hour (Umbrella) is offered for this position.
