Interim Early Help Commissioner
Based: London (hybrid working)
Length: 6 months initially with likelihood of extension
IR35 status: Outside
We are currently working with a Local Authority to recruit an interim Early Help Commissioner to support their ambitious early help improvement programme, in order to manage the exponential demand in statutory services.
Key Responsibilities of the interim Early Help Commissioner:
- Playing a crucial role in securing interventions that work to reduce early help demand within the borough
- Bringing evidence-based service expertise and knowledge of what has worked in commissioning services in the Early Intervention and Preventive arena
- Developing several service specifications for urgent services that require commissioning, including targeted interventions in domestic violence
- Commissioning family group conferencing and specialist parenting programmes, 0-5 crisis intervention service
- Attending a range of different workshops with key stakeholders across partnerships to inform specifications
Skills and experience required of the interim Early Help Commissioner
- Demonstrable hands-on commissioning experience with practical astuteness as to commissioning Early Help, Targeted Early Help and Domestic Abuse services
- Strong levels of political awareness, and knowledge and experience of commissioning within a local government environment
- Ability to do robust need, demand, and supply market assessments and doing this in an agile way
- Evidence of drafting strong specifications, involving multi-agency partners, as well as developing a robust procurement plan
