Locum Childcare Lawyer – Midlands – Full Time – Maternity Cover to start in July 2022– up to £50 per hour OUTSIDE IR35
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a reputable Local Authority in the Midlands area who are recruiting for a Locum Childcare Lawyer to join their department in July 2022 to cover Maternity Leave.
The client is ideally seeking a candidate on a full time basis, however candidate on a part time basis will be considered. Due to the start date, this position would also be suitable for someone who is currently in a permanent role and looking to join the locum market.
This opportunity is suitable for an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within Local Government specialising in Childcare Law.
Duties may include:
Providing Childcare Public Law advice and undertake all aspects of Care Proceedings work
Attending and advise at meetings across the County attended by professionals, particularly Legal Planning Meetings and PLO meetings and other similar meetings as directed by the Principal Lawyer and/or Assistant Chief Legal Officer
Conducting advocacy before the Family Courts and instruct counsel and the Council's in-house advocates where appropriate as well as preparation of cases
Ensuring that decisions made by the client department are lawful and accord with County Council policy
Maintaining an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations, investigate and advise on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide briefing notes and training for colleagues and client officers
An hourly rate of up to £50 per hour Outside IR35 is offered for this position.
