Locum Part Time Childcare Lawyer – East of England – Remote Working – 3 months initially– up to £50 per hour (Umbrella)
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are excited to be recruiting for a Locum Childcare Lawyer to join an excellent Local Authority in the East of England.
This assignment will be for an initial period of three months with the scope to be ongoing thereafter and will be worked on a fully remote basis for the foreseeable future. The client is seeking a candidate on a part time basis.
The ideal candidate would be a Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive who is able to handle a busy caseload of Childcare matters alongside conducting their own advocacy with professional experience gained within Local Government.
Duties may include:

Providing Childcare Public Law advice and undertake all aspects of Care Proceedings work

Attending and advise at meetings across the County attended by professionals, particularly Legal Planning Meetings and PLO meetings and other similar meetings as directed by the Principal Lawyer and/or Assistant Chief Legal Officer

Conducting advocacy before the Family Courts and instruct counsel and the Council's in-house advocates where appropriate as well as preparation of cases

Ensuring that decisions made by the client department are lawful and accord with County Council policy

Maintaining an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations, investigate and advise on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide briefing notes and training for colleagues and client officers.
An attractive hourly rate of up to £50 (Umbrella) is offered for this position dependant on experience.
