Locum Democratic Services Officer

Locum Democratic Services Officer – up to £30 per hour (Umbrella) – Initial 3–6 months – East of England – Hybrid Working

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a Local Authority based in the East of England who are seeking an experienced Democratic Services Officer to join their team on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective operation of the Council’s governance and decision-making processes within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role:
Position: Locum Democratic Services Officer
Duration: Initial 3–6 months with the possibility of extension
Rate: £25 - £30 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Primarily remote with office attendance required for meetings

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the organisation and delivery of Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings
• Prepare, publish and circulate agendas, minutes and reports in line with statutory deadlines
• Provide procedural advice to Members and Officers during meetings
• Ensure the smooth operation of the democratic process and compliance with relevant legislation
• Support governance and constitutional matters as required

About You:
• Previous experience within a Local Authority Democratic Services or Committee Support function
• Strong understanding of Local Government governance and meeting procedures
• Excellent attention to detail, communication and organisational skills
