Locum Deputy Principal Adult Social Care Lawyer – Remote Working – 6 Months + - £60 per hour umbrella – Thames Valley
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a reputable Local Authority in Thames Valley who are recruiting for a Locum Deputy Principal Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their department.
This is position is offered on a full-time basis however candidates that have the relevant experience but can only work on a part time basis may also be considered. The role is offered for an initial period of 6 Months with a likelihood of further extension based on performance and will be worked on an a predominantly remote basis with the exception of attending court when required.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Solicitor or Barrister to become part of a forward thinking, proactive Local Authority. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within Local Government specialising in Adult Social Care Law.
Duties may include:

Managing a small team of Solicitors within the Litigation department

Holding a varied caseload of Adult Social Care Matters

Advocating in the Court of Protection

Providing advice under the Mental Health Act 1983, including displacement of nearest relative, deprivation of liberty, place of safety, s117 aftercare

Providing advice on application of the inherent jurisdiction and drafting statements, applications and orders

Allocating and delegating relevant work to appropriate internal parties

Advising on aspects of community care under both the Care Act 2014 and National Assistance Act 1948, including ordinary residence, direct payments and personal budgets, vulnerable adults, appointeeship/deputyship

Defending Judicial review proceedings in relation to community care matters and disputing age assessments

Providing legal advice and support services to clients and other witnesses and advising on the appropriate course of action in both civil and criminal proceedings
An hourly rate of up to £60 per hour (umbrella) is offered for this position dependent on experience.
