Locum Principal Commercial Contracts Lawyer – All Remote Working – £55 to £65 per hour Umbrella – East Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are pleased to be recruiting for a Locum Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the East Midlands.

This assignment will be for an initial period of 6 months subject to likely possible extension thereafter. The role will be worked on a fully remote basis for the foreseeable. The client is seeking someone on a full time basis however part time candidates possessing the right experience will be considered.

The ideal candidate would be a Qualified Solicitor or Barrister who is able to handle a complex caseload of commercial contracts matters with extensive professional experience gained within Local Government or Private Practice. This position requires someone who is confident dealing with a full caseload of complex contractual matters.

Duties may include:

• Overseeing line management responsibilities and supporting the development of the wider team

• Managing a caseload of commercial contract  and procurement matters and reviewing work to ensure work is completed to a high standard and adhering to given timescales and budgets

• Reviewing and managing all current contracts to comply with GDPR

• Providing training and guidance to the client departments and the rest of the legal team in completing their tasks

• Supporting junior staff members in their development

• Reviewing existing contracts, revising and amending existing contracts to make them fit for the Council’s purpose

• Drafting relevant contracts for developmental projects within the local area

• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders thus negotiating with them where necessary

• Ensuring all relevant regulatory procedures are carried out hence providing advice when required

• Reviewing reports for Executive and Non-Executive committees

• Drafting new catering agreements for various educational establishments

• Building and maintaining relationships with other colleagues within the Local Authority

• Proactively working to support the team and provide training to junior members

An attractive hourly rate of up to £65 Umbrella is offered for this position dependant on experience.
