Interim Mayor’s Performance Delivery Adviser
Based in London, hybrid
Length: 7 months (with likely extension)

This strategic role supports and advises the Mayor and Cabinet of a local authority. The role will ensure effective governance, decision-making, and delivery of the Mayor’s priorities, while managing internal and external relationships.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide advice and assistance on delivering the Mayor’s priorities, managing emerging issues, and supporting external roles and partnerships
- Ensure effective corporate governance and administrative processes for the Cabinet and Executive, working closely with senior officers and teams to support timely, sound decisions
- Advise and assist Cabinet Members with their portfolios and ensure they receive appropriate administrative backing
- Coordinate political and officer priorities to align with the Council’s strategic and political vision, ensuring timely and focused outcomes
- Line manage 2 team members
Experience and knowledge required:
- Experience working in a similar role within a Local Authority
- Strong grasp of local government operations, especially under a Directly Elected Mayor model
- Understanding of government tiers and the public sector
- Skilled in working with politicians and diverse stakeholders
- Experience in identifying and responding to sensitive or strategic issues
- Comfortable leading in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
