Medical Devices Project Engineer

Venn Group is currently working with an NHS Trust, based in London, who are recruiting for a Medical Devices Connectivity Engineer. Expected to project manage, as part of a team, the connectivity and security of medical devices and their integration with clinical information systems in line with the Trust.
Rate: £49,036 - £55,049 per annum dependant on experience (plus benefits)
Location: London
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Permanent
Job Responsibilities:
- To proactively identify the needs of the Trust from a medical devices connectivity point of view and produce an action plan, as part of a team, to meet these requirements
- To carry out the aforementioned action plan with close collaboration with colleagues in Clinical Engineering and in ICT
- To visit and spend time in clinical areas in order to understand clinical workflows, solve problems and form excellent working relationships with clinicians
- To support Clinical Engineering colleagues in the evaluation and selection of medical technology to ensure compliance, compatibility and futureproofing
- To write business cases to highlight the financial resources needed for, and returns from, a connectivity solution
- To provide expert advice and input for new integration projects led by ICT or other departments, including options, costs, risks and clinical and operational implications
- As part of a team, to monitor and maintain existing implemented connectivity systems, and support and teach the Medical Devices Technical Services section in providing first-line support to these systems
- Analyse and manage information governance and cybersecurity risks related to medical devices
The ideal candidate will have:
- BEng or BSc degree in a science or engineering subject, or equivalent in depth experience and training
- Experience with connecting devices or systems (medical or non-medical) via TCP/IP, RS232 or other hardware or software interfaces
- A basic recognition of DICOM and HL7 and their practical uses
