Planning Strategy Manager
A position has arisen for a Planning Strategy Manager within a highly regarded organisation situated within Suffolk. The position is a temporary contract running for 2 months, with full time hours and hybrid working.
Location: Suffolk, hybrid working
Contract: 2 months, swift start
Rate: £500.00 umbrella per day
Hours: 37 hours per week
Your duties will include the following:
- Reporting to the Head of Planning, the postholder will manage a team and take the lead on a wide range of issues related to the organisations role in the planning system
- This includes the organisations own minerals and waste local plan, the interaction of the organisations services with district and borough council local plans and securing infrastructure
- Managing the work of the Senior Planning and Growth Officer and Planning Officer in monitoring and reviewing the Minerals and Waste Local Plan and formulating responses to Local and Neighbourhood Plans and major planning applications
- Managing the work of the Senior Planning and Infrastructure Officer and Planning Officer in aligning the delivery of infrastructure through Local Plans, the Community Infrastructure Levy and section 106
- Ensuring that the organisation complies with its statutory Duty to Cooperate
- Providing the strategic planning input to the preparation of Local Plans (and other associated documents) by the District/Borough/Parish Councils in a manner which reflects the corporate priorities of the Council
- Attending local plan examinations and planning inquiries
- Liaising with other teams and directorates to assist in the delivery of Suffolk-wide strategies and other corporate priorities
The successful candidate should have:
- Post-graduate degree in planning from an institution recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute
- Be a Chartered Town Planner
- Up to date knowledge and expertise in planning policy and case law
- Evidence of sustained commitment to Continuing Professional Development as required by a chartered institute
- Experience of working effectively in a political environment
- Experience of dealing with complex and contentious proposals and of preparing reports for committees and/or inquiries
- Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and partners to develop shared solutions to complex problems
