Press & PR Officer (Public Health)
We are currently working with a large organisation who are require the interim assistance of an experienced Press & PR Officer to contribute to the management of public health related news and to the proactive promotion of the organisations programmes, services, policies, and events.
Role Responsibilities
- To build and maintain regular contact with journalists across all platforms, including specialist press and bloggers, and with communications peers in relevant external organisations
- Use a range of appropriate methods – e.g., drafting news releases, features, picture captions, web copy, media briefings, liaising with journalists and attending events as necessary in order to achieve maximum positive coverage for the organisation
- Deal with breaking news and reputation/crisis issues as part of routine media management
- Work as part of a coordinated team to deliver a comprehensive news service 24 hours/365 days on a rota basis, including the production of a daily news briefing
- To work with officers in the wider unit (Campaign Communications, Design etc.) to support marketing campaigns through public relations
- To act as account manager/business lead for a number of portfolios in relation to news management and public relations
The ideal candidate will have…
- Experience of working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in supporting Public Health outcomes
- Experience of developing and implementing communication strategies targeting audiences at local, regional and national levels
- Experience of producing promotional and publicity information
- Experience of developing and implementing Marketing Research and consultation projects including evaluation and presentation of findings
Start: ASAP
Duration: 3-6 months
Rate: Negotiable depending upon experience via an umbrella company (IR35)
Fully remote working
