Locum Principal Adult Social Care Solicitor – London Local Authority – Remote / Hybrid – Full Time
Venn Group is working with a well-regarded and forward-thinking London local authority in their search for a Principal Adult Social Care Solicitor on a locum basis for an initial 3 month assignment, with strong potential for extension.
Details:
Job Title: Principal Adult Social Care Solicitor
Hourly Rate: Negotiable depending upon experience
Length of Contract: 3 months initially with high likelihood of extensions
Working Pattern: Full-time – 36 hours per week
Location: Local Authority in London
Office Attendance: Remote working with occasional office attendance as required
Duties/Responsibilities:
Working as the Specialist Lead Lawyer for Social Care, you will manage and lead a team of solicitors handling Children’s and Adults’ Social Care matters, ensuring a high-quality, compliant, and efficient service.
This will include, but is not limited to:
- Leading and managing a Social Care Legal Team (7–10 staff) within Legal Services
- Providing specialist legal advice across Children’s, Adults’, and Education matters
- Overseeing and delegating complex, sensitive, and high-profile cases
- Ensuring compliance with court deadlines, LEXCEL standards, and professional regulations
- Providing strategic and operational guidance to senior officers, Members, and partner agencies
- Managing budgets and performance to meet financial and service delivery targets
- Representing the Council in dealings with the judiciary and external stakeholders
Preferred Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX Lawyer entitled to practise in England & Wales
- Extensive experience in Social Care Law (Children’s and Adults’) and Litigation
- Proven experience managing and developing a legal team
- Ability to deliver high-quality legal advice under pressure and tight timescales
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including senior officer engagement
