We are currently working on the below opportunity for a Senior Estate Surveyor working with a Local Authority to assist their Estates Team. You will manage the council's property transfers and disposals, ensuring compliance with regulations. The role includes assessing properties, developing business cases, and overseeing transactions to support the council's strategic goals.

Start Date: February 2026
Duration: 6 Months Initially
Rate: £440 p/d (Inside IR35)
Hybrid Working Arrangement: 1-2 Days Onsite
Responsibilities
- The role is responsible for managing, overseeing, and delivering a variety of complex estates casework to achieve strategic objectives for the council, ensuring effective management and development of the council’s estate
- Delivery of the council transfer and disposal programmes ensuring full compliance with section 123 1972 LG Act
- Help deliver councils Strategic Asset Management Plan ensuring council has the right assets in the right places for effective service delivery
- Contribute to asset class reviews and the development of asset class strategies
- Undertake options appraisals in relation to community and surplus properties informed by feasibility studies and viability analysis
- Develop business cases to deliver the right property solutions which are financially sustainable and in line with council's priorities
- Oversee and undertake property transfers and disposals at pace but ensuring process is followed
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Corporate membership of the RICS in the relevant faculties (desirable)
- Understanding and relevant practical experience of the Principles of Valuation and Estate Management & an understanding of the wider property market and how to successfully market land and buildings
- Experience working with a local authority and knowledge of processes – able to hit the ground running
