Service Charge Officer
Our client, a Housing Association in London, is urgently seeking a Service Charge Officer to join their busy team. The role will require a passionate individual with previous experience working within service charge.
Position: Service Charge Officer
Period: Permanent
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Hours: 35 hours a week
Location: London (remote during lockdown)
Rate: £30,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Duties for this role will include:

Calculating and monitoring the housing income on service charges and major works for leaseholders

Providing support and assistance to the rent and service charge team to maximise rental income

Work collaboratively across the organisation so that the annual rent reviews and service charges reconciliations are compliant

Preparing the budgeted service charges statements for leaseholders

Arranging for the correct and prompt payment of ground rent demands, service charges demands and insurance demands as sent by freeholder landlords, where the Association is itself a leaseholder

Assisting the housing officers in their management of service charges – by setting up and supplying codes, reports and management information, by following up queries, etc

Managing tenant enquiries surrounding service charge letters and reconciliations

Providing front-line teams with specialist support by processing bills, tracking service charge budgets and answering queries from both internal and external customers

Investigating and responding promptly and accurately to rent and service charge queries and complaints where necessary

Keeping the Financial Accountant (Leasehold and Rents) well informed about issues that may arise on service charges and to supervise the Finance Assistant (leasehold) in his duties relating to service charges

Managing and dealing with complaints process from tenants
Essential requirements:

Previous experience of calculating, coding and dealing with services charge accounts

Good knowledge of leasehold, right to buy legislation and policies

Strong technical background and attention to detail

Possess IT equipment to be able to work from home effectively, IT equipment will NOT be provided
