Technical Services Manager

A position has arisen for a Technical Services Manager within a leading policing organisation, to ensure the smooth running of the technical services, through working with external suppliers and internal customers. Identifying and managing service improvements, overseeing risk and managing escalations for issues resolution. The purpose of the role from an architecture and change perspective is the oversight and governance of the technology that underpins the service.
Responsibilities:

The role acts as a bridge between the BSS suppliers, the retained support services functions and wider MPS for the IT service management, architectural oversight and input, and technical change

This role within the ICF will be responsible for the MPS oversight of the technical architecture, IT service management and technical change that of the overarching BSS Service

This role, a member of the Business Support Services (BSS) Intelligent Client Function, owns and is responsible for the activities and processes technology and IT service elements of BSS ICF

The role ensures the best balance of quality, risk and value for money for the MPS, through oversight, challenge, guidance, and as a decision authority to the supplier

Input into the design authority, ownership of minor change on behalf of the BSS ICF, BSS ICF lead on major MPS projects and programmes and input / control over BAU change that may affect the service. The control and maintenance of processes and documentation will also form a key part of this role.

Working with the internal Suppliers to manage technical change and service related issues

Proactively work with MPS stakeholders, ensuring that changing business demands are planned and met within a Technology Roadmap

Provides technical oversight into the supplier release management processes. Attends the release management board and provides governance from an MPS perspective focusing on business needs and technology / business impacts within the environment

Attends/Deputises for the BSS Design Authority and reviews/provides feedback on all technical and data changes that affect BSS. Provides input into strategies and business-led project and programmes from a BSS applications, services and usage viewpoint. Understands the impact of business changes and provides input and guidance into the final design sign on behalf of BSS/MPS
Essential experience:

Experience of working within a public sector environment (ideally policing)

5+ years of hands on IT experience in either service management or technical change with a broad understanding of both

Broad understanding of ERP applications, preferably Oracle E-Business suite

Broad understanding of multiple ERP modules and the integration between them

Understanding of Applications Lifecycle Management

Understanding of IT service management
-
Understanding of managing services delivered through external service providers and working within an outsource environment particularly from a technology perspective.

Excellent stakeholder and supplier service management.

Knowledge of ITIL
