Adult Social Care Lawyer – 3 months initially – Full Time – Local Authority
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a busy/successful Local Authority, who are known for their excellent team culture, who are recruiting for a Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their department.
This is a full-time assignment (40 hours per week). The successful applicant can work a remote basis.
Responsibilities:
- Working under the leadership of the Senior Lawyer and Principal Lawyer
- Provide legal advice and support on all matters relating to adult social care and to ensure the provision of a high quality, efficient, cost effective and customer focused service.
- To conduct legal proceedings and represent the client department on issues arising within the Social Care and Housing team with a particular focus on the Council’s functions regarding adult social care.
- To provide legal advice on other council functions so far as they relate to adult social care functions or duties as appropriate and if requested to do so.
- To conduct straight forward and complex legal proceedings relating to adult social care matters in the Court of Protection, Administrative Court and the County Court.
- Providing legal advice and support on adult social care matters, including ordinary residence disputes, mental capacity including DOLS, mental health and the Care Act 2014, judicial review claims and information governance issues.
- Conduct case work in all levels of court, issuing and defending proceedings on behalf of the Council and representing the council at court hearings, undertaking advocacy as appropriate, in the Family Court, Court of Protection, and other courts and tribunals as necessary.
- To manage case work and advise on strategic case management with a view to cost effectiveness.
Requirements:
- The post-holder must be an admitted solicitor, a barrister or a legal executive.
- The ideal applicant will have recent experience working in a Local Authority.
