We are working with a local authority who are actively seeking to recruit 2 Assistant Project Managers (Highways) to join a proactive and supportive Traffic Engineering team responsible for delivering a varied programme of local highway improvements.
Location: Gloucestershire based Local Authority
Set-up: 2 days on-site each week
Rate: £27 per hour via umbrella, inside IR35
Duration: Initial 6 month contract
Hours: 37 hours, Monday to Friday
The role of Assistant Project Manager (Highways) offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience delivering projects that reduce serious and fatal collisions, enhance walking and cycling infrastructure, and improve the quality of life for local communities.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the development and delivery of traffic engineering schemes, working closely with designers, senior project managers, contractors, and a range of internal and external partners
- Assist with project planning, monitoring progress, preparing documentation, and supporting stakeholder engagement
- Apply relevant policies, processes, and design standards, ensuring health and safety requirements — including the CDM Regulations 2015 — are embedded throughout project stages
Experience:
- Ability and willingness to work in Gloucester a minimum of two days per week
- Have an interest in highways, traffic engineering, and project delivery, with an enthusiasm for developing your skills in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
- Some experience supporting projects — ideally in highways, engineering, or construction — is beneficial, but your willingness to learn and contribute is equally important
- Ideally Experience of Local Government practises and procedures
