Temporary Housing Advice Officer
Venn Group Social Housing Recruitment Team are currently recruiting for a temporary Housing Advice Officer for a local authority based in Gloucestershire to join their busy team on a temporary basis.
Location: Gloucestershire
Contract Type: 4 months +
Hours: 37hrs per week
Rate: Negotiable
Responsibilities:
- Provide a specialist advice service on housing options and homeless prevention
- Assist the Homelessness Prevention Officers in all aspects of homelessness prevention and delivery of the Council’s Homelessness Strategy
- Conduct interviews and deliver operational prioritisation procedures related to maintaining the Housing Register
- Investigate and make decisions on all aspects of homelessness applications under the relevant legislation and guiding Housing Advice assistants
- Record and monitor data for government statistical returns, B&B/temporary accommodation placements
- Provide housing advice services to applicants, landlords, legal and financial institutions and other agencies concerning housing law and the local housing market
- Work towards optimum efficiency and in line with legislation, the Code of Guidance, case law and good practice guidelines
- Negotiate with the evicting family/landlord/agent to ensure any available resource to prevent homelessness is considered
- Conduct routine decisions on aspects of work, including statutory decisions under homeless legislation, with all other decisions being referred to the Senior Housing Advice Officer
Essential Skills:
- Full UK drivers licence and access to own car
- Enhanced DBS within the last 12 months
- Demonstrable knowledge of Housing Options and HRA
- Experience of managing budgets and expenditure
- Computer literate & experience of Outlook, Word and Excel
