Interim Contracts Manager

Based in Southampton, hybrid working

Length: 3 months with possible extension

IR35 status: Inside

Rate: £220 per day via an umbrella company

We are looking for an experienced Contracts & Commercial Services Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of a high-quality planned maintenance service. This role will ensure cost-effective, compliant, and customer-focused housing services that maximise value for money.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Contracts Manager:

· Manage contracts, contractors, and multi-trade teams to deliver planned works on time, within budget, and to high standards

· Oversee procurement, tendering, and contract compliance in line with council policies

· Control budgets, forecasts, and expenditure while ensuring value for money

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements including CDM regulations

· Work closely with housing teams, tenants, and partners to improve service delivery

· Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and customer satisfaction

· Lead and develop staff including apprentices through effective management

Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Contracts Manager:

Essential

· HNC/HND (or equivalent) or significant contracts/commercial services experience

· Knowledge of CDM and health & safety (IOSH Level 3 or working towards)

· Experience managing teams, budgets, and customer-focused services

· Strong financial, commercial, and project management skills

· Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable

· Professional qualification (e.g., CIOH, RICS, CIOB)

· Experience in social housing or public sector property services
