Interim Head of Corporate Health & Safety
We are currently supporting a London Borough who are looking to bring in a Head of Service to support workplace risk assessments and staff wellbeing as part of their New ways of working programme.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the delivery of Health and Safety services
- To drive forward the Council’s vision & strategy of the Health and safety team and to work closely with managers across the Council to ensure that policies and practices are compliant with the Councils’ statutory duties
- Address long term issues around their current ways of working and processes
- Assess these workplace issues and changes in light of current and future COVID 19 impacts i.e. working from home, returning to an office, managing childcare and general wellbeing
- Evaluate and guide risk assessment process and forms
- Conduct on site risk assessments where required
- Look at the impacts and business case around a number of potential changes
- To provide strategic management and direction for developing, delivering and reviewing comprehensive, consistent, quality H&S advice in order to deliver a well-managed, safe, motivated workforce
- To maintain a specialist knowledge of relevant Council functions in terms of health and safety issues, operating effective standards and priorities
- Lead, manage and be accountable for the operational activity and performance of the Health & Safety team, including work planning, monitoring and review, to ensure the provision of a high quality, cost effective service, which fully integrates equality issues, best practice and best value within all aspects of service delivery and complies with statutory & policy requirements
Experience required:
- Must have worked at a similarly senior level, ideally in the public sector
- Able to drive forward change and liaise with senior stakeholders
- ISOH Qualified
