Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer – Hybrid Working – Full Time– Initial 3 months+ – Up to £60 per hour umbrella
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the Midlands on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain further experience within an established Local Authority.
Role Details
Working Arrangement: Full-time, Hybrid working
Rate: Up to £60 per hour umbrella
Start: As soon as possible
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing legal support across the Council's commercial, procurement and funding activities
- Advising on both upcoming and live public procurements, including drafting contractual terms and advising on clarifications, notices, legal risk, challenge exposure and overall commercial strategy
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 and the Subsidy Control Act 2022
- Supporting Council teams on complex commercial relationships and contract management matters, including NDAs, grants, novations, variations, extensions, liability issues, and performance management queries
- Acting as legal lead on high-value and high-risk projects, operating as the intelligent client to protect the Council's position and ensure compliance with the Council's Constitution and deleted authority framework
- Responsible for sitting on governance boards, providing challenge and legal assurance on behalf of the Principal Lawyer and Head of Law
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Commercial and Procurement Law
- Experience within Local Government or the public sector is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of Commercial matters
